Turn Your Lighting Game Around with LED Strip LightsLED Strip Lights: The Versatile Lighting SolutionLED strip lights have become the preferred choice for countless lighting projects. They offer versatility, easy installation, ample brightness, affordability, and long-lasting performance. Whether you opt for a 120-volt line voltage or a 12-volt low-voltage option, strip lighting can be utilized in almost any setting. If you’re new to the world of LED strip lights, you can learn more about them here.
Stylish Illumination for Your Kitchen CabinetsStrip lights are perfect for a variety of projects, but they recently proved their worth in my kitchen. I installed them both above and below my cabinets, which was a breeze for the lower cabinets since it involved straight runs. However, the top cabinets posed a challenge—I wanted the strip lights to follow the contours of my crown molding. To achieve this, I had to find a clever way to bend the lights around every corner, accommodating the varying depths of my cabinets.
Option #1: The Cut-and-Jump MethodOne solution is to purchase an LED strip light jumper connector. With this method, you cut the strip light and attach the connector in the middle, enabling you to bend the two sections of the strip light in any direction. This approach is ideal if you don’t have a bendable LED strip or if you’re concerned about damaging it. Some connectors require soldering, but you can also find solder-free options. Nevertheless, if you’re anything like me, you prefer simplicity.
Option #2: The Ribbon Bend TechniqueAfter some experimentation, I stumbled upon an easy and visually pleasing solution for my LED strip corner installation. I call it the “ribbon bend,” although others refer to it as the “90-Degree Pinch.” Essentially, it involves looping or contorting the strip light in a tight curl that doesn’t harm the light itself, allowing for a change in direction. As you can see, the corner portion of the strip light won’t adhere to the surface—it floats there. Since this section is short, it doesn’t compromise the installation or affect the uniformity of the light output.
That’s all there is to it! I employed this technique during my LED lighting strip installation, effortlessly navigating all my corners without the need for additional accessories or added hassle, and I’m extremely satisfied with the final results.

Option #3: The Corner FoldTo create a 90-degree fold in a strip light, follow these steps:
Lay the strip on a flat surface and identify the fold point.
Fold the strip light at a 45-degree angle in the opposite direction of the corner.
Bend the fold back onto itself.
Crease the fold and secure it with super glue.
This corner fold technique offers a more polished look for situations where the strip lights will be clearly visible.
Option #4: The Accordion CurveAchieve a gradual turn in your strip lights by employing small accordion folds spaced out by several inches. The folding technique is similar to the one described above. Accordion curves are perfect for rounded edges and non-90-degree angles, providing flexibility for various design preferences.
With these bending techniques at your disposal, you can take your
LED lights installation to new levels of creativity and customization. Illuminate your space with style and elegance!
